University Library

The University Library is a "knowledge hub", and is enjoyed also by people in the community as the new symbol of Seikei University. The building is made of brick to carry the University’s tradition, and has a glass atrium, which lets in abundant daylight and provides open atmosphere.

The interior of the University Library is designed to enable users to use the facility functionally and with ease according to their purposes. A refreshment area and search computers have been placed on the first floor. The main entrance and the main circulation desk are located on the second floor. Each floor from the 1st to the 5th floor is connected to the open shelves in the North and South Buildings that center around the atrium, allowing the user to freely access approximately 550,000 books. On the 4th floor, there is a Media Room in which users can listen to or watch media materials including CDs and DVDs. By the window around the open bookshelves in the North and South Buildings, there are 266 crystal carrels (personal reading rooms), which are optimal for individual learning. In addition, two basement floors contain automated storage, which can store an enormous amount of material.
