Introduction to the Observatory

The Seikei Meteorological Observatory is located on the campus of Seikei Gakuen's Junior and Senior High School. It consists of two locations: an outdoor site called the observation field, where meteorological observations are conducted, and a meteorological observation room attached to the Earth Science Laboratory within the Science Building. Meteorological observations are conducted daily at fixed times. In addition, weather, cloud types, and visibility are observed at fixed times from the school building rooftop, and the flowering and full-bloom dates of cherry blossoms are recorded in every spring.

The observation field is located southwest of the Junior and Senior High School Special Building. It covers approximately 100 square meters of lawn and is equipped with various meteorological instruments, including two Stevenson screens of different sizes and an automatic temperature observation system. Originally established in 1926, the observation field was located south of the current Seikei University Information Library. It was relocated to the Junior and Senior High School campus in 1962 and moved to its present location in 1986.

The Meteorological Observation Room receives and records meteorological data, conducts barometric pressure observations using a digital barometer, a Fortan barometer, and an aneroid barometer, storing and managing observation records (observation log sheets, observation field notebooks, recording chart, etc.) since the start of observations.
