Seikei University is currently aiming to launch the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Studies in April 2026. The Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Studies will consist of one department, the Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies. The department will comprise two majors: Global Japanese Studies & Environmental Sustainability Studies. (names are tentative)
◆ Focus of the Faculty of Global Interdisciplinary Studies
With the goal to realize a sustainable Earth and society, the program aims to nurture individuals who, from both theoretical and practical perspectives, explore the culture, region and environment of Japan and the world. The goal is to address global and local challenges collaboratively, fostering individuals with interdisciplinary understanding in humanities and sciences. The faculty also aims to cultivate individuals with strong communicative skills, collaborative abilities, and analytical minds, so they can actively participate in the international society where people with diverse backgrounds are expected to work together. To this end, the faculty will provide ample opportunities for students to improve their English skills, take various specialized courses taught in English, and participate in fieldwork in Japan and overseas. Data analysis training will also be promoted as part of the fundamental skills*1.
- Major in Global Japanese Studies
The program will offer a comprehensive study of cultural exchange and diversity connecting Japan and the world, with cultural studies and regional studies as core disciplines. The program will also address various challenges arising from the globalization of Japan's regions, Japanese language education, and more.

- Major in Environmental Sustainability Studies
The pillar of the program will be environmental science studies, realized through pioneering collaborations between Seikei University and the local community, with environmental studies and geography as core disciplines.
